Vic Firth designed this pair to do just that. The short taper on these sticks makes them beefier up front, adding mass to produce more tone out of everything they hit. The thicker material also makes them more durable against rim shots. Long oval tips hit a wider amount of drums and cymbals, boosting volume. These sticks are made from hickory, a wood that balances flexibility and strength very well. A lacquer surface coating gives them an extra-smooth feel.
